Airport Public Scoping Meeting to build 3 deicing facilities at the Westchester County Airport planned in the name of “safety” Will “safety” mean expansion? The Westchester Airport sits on the shores of the Kensico Reservoir, 250 yards from the drinking water supply of Westchester and New York City. The Kensico supplies 85% of Westchester and 90% of New York City’s Water.

Our failure to protect this water supply will result in substantial increase in our water taxes

LAST TIME DEICING WAS PROPOSED FOR SAFETY AT THE AIRPORT. “SAFETY” MEANT ENORMOUS EXPANSION OF THE FOOTPRINT AND CAPACITY OF THE AIRPORT! PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN

The only way to have safe affordable drinking water is to protect The Kensico from expansion of this airport. Airports are one of the most polluting industries in the world. Robert Kennedy, Jr. called the location of this airport an historical disaster.  There were 35 spills in one year alone. 400 gallons of petroleum were spilled into an outfall which discharges into the reservoir. Any expansion will increase the likelihood of accidents and spills.
